Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Debbie's Art Academy located?
We are located in The Ranches of Eagle Mountain
when you register an email will be sent to you giving you the address.

Do I stay with my child during class?
It is not necessary.  You are welcome to come in and stay but most parents just drop their child off and then wait outside the house to pick up.

How does my child get to the studio?
We usually have our business sign hanging on the front door.  This is an indication that I am waiting for your child and class is that day/time.  You child need not to knock when the sign in on the door but just come inside and go down the stairs to where my studio is located.  I am usually down their waiting and don't always here the doorbell.

Can my 5 year old take classes?
This question is asked the most.   Debbie's Art Academy weekly classes are for ages 6 and up.  In the past I haven't had a lot of success with making my classes work with 5 year olds.  Some of the reasons I don't take 5 year olds is that sometimes I use equipment such as hot glue guns and I wouldn't want them to get hurt, there are times when I use paper mache and they have a hard time completing the project.  They almost always go fast and don't pay a lot of attention to the instructions.  I want them to learn some art skills, and a lot of times with the younger ones, they are just trying to hurry and get it done and want to know what's next.  There's just something about 6 year olds that makes them do better, maybe it's that they have been through kindergarten and have learned some skills that help them in being patient.

I also have a full class of 10 students, all needing my assistance at times and the 5  year olds need more of my time and that takes away from the other students.  I am okay at taking 5 year olds as long as an adult is with them to assist them.

I do have some events that 5 year olds may attend.  We have the Mom & Me painting classes and occasionally their is an art event night, which usually last 2 hours.

What if I miss a class I've already paid for?
Don't worry about it.  I ask for at least 48 hrs cancellation but I understand illness that comes up and emergencies.  The class you miss will just carry over.  If you pay for 4 classes you get 4 classes.  But please note that supplies are purchased in advance based on the number of registered so if you know your not going to make a class due to a dr. appointment or vacation knowing this ahead of time helps me to prepare accordingly.
